Huntingtons Disease > Transgenic
The following information is about Transgenic.
Transgenic Defined
An organism that has had DNA from another organism introduced into it. For example, if jellyfish DNA is introduced into a mouse, the mouse is then called a transgenic mouse. Transgenic animals are generated by introducing the outside DNA into the developing embryo and then implanting the embryo into a host mother until the animal is born.

A New Improved Gene Therapy Can Be The First Treatment For Machado-Joseph Disease
Published October 11, 2008, 4:06 am, Medical News Today
Portuguese, Swiss and French researchers show, for the first time, that is possible to inhibit, in a living organism, the mutated copies of a gene without affecting any existing normal copies of the same gene.
Optics Of Alzheimer"™s Disease
Published October 10, 2008, 9:09 am, Science Daily
One of the hallmarks of Alzheimer’s disease is the formation of plaques made of protein aggregates in the brain tissue. There is still considerable debate among scientists as to whether these plaques are the cause of the neuronal death that occurs in Alzheimer’s or just a by-product of the disease, however.
