- GABAergic synapses are formed without the involvement of dendritic protrusions : Abstract : Nature Neuroscience: In contrast with contacts with glutamatergic boutons, which can be long lasting, the contacts of dendritic protrusions with GABAergic boutons were always short lived. Similarly, the contacts made by GABAergic axonal protrusions were always transient. New putative GABAergic synapses were formed exclusively by new boutons appearing at pre-existing axon-dendrite crossings without the involvement of any dendritic or axonal protrusions.

- The Contribution of Single Synapses to Sensory Representation in Vivo -- Arenz et al. 321 (5891): 977 -- Science: Velocity information of body is represented linearly via bidirectional modulation of EPSC frequency and charge around tonically active vestibular input. Floccular GCs receive inputs with unique receptive fields, which suggests that multiple vestibular, visual and/or eye movement-relat ed signals may converge on individual GCs. About 100 MF-GC synapses were required to provide enough resolution to meet psychophysical predictions. This is really cool experiment.
