Heat Repeat Sequences Defined

A series of three to four amino acids repeated along the length of a protein; acronym HEAT comes from four proteins in which these repeated sequences have been found. The normal huntingtin protein contains 36 HEAT-like repeats, which fold up into a spiral structure and may serve as docking sites for other proteins. Also referred to as HEAT domains.
